Popcorn Chicken





Chicken Popcorn is a kind of replica of kfc pop corn chicken , though their ingredients are secret and they do not disclose what all they add to make this delicious appetizer , but here I have tried to make it very close to them.
Though there are so many pop corn chicken recipes , but I have tried to make according to my taste buds.



Popcorn Chicken is a deep fried starter which is rolled in seasoned flour mixture , then dipped in egg mixture , lastly rolled in Panko bread crumbs . Almost all recipe on net have this ingredient called PANKO bread crumbs, it has thick and flaky texture , but unfortunately in Mumbai ( India ) its not easily available, the crumbs that we get here are fine , which do not give the  look of popcorn chicken nor taste like them. So after few attempts I tried my own way, like I rolled in seasoned flour mixture , then dipped in egg mixture , then in seasoned flour mixture , again in egg mixture and lastly in seasoned flour mixture and then deep fried them. To my surprise , this technique was far better close to the one made with bread crumbs in look wise and of course taste wise too, they some what taste like kfc chicken.





Once you try it , you will definately like it , here is my take on POPCORN CHICKEN 





INGREDIENTS: 

250 gms chicken boneless 
2 cups butter milk 
2 eggs 
1-2 tsp hot sauce ( optional ) 
3-4 tbsp milk 

MARINATION 
1 tsp paprika powder 
1 tsp onion powder 
1 tsp garlic powder 
1 tsp mixed herbs
salt 

DRY FLOUR MIX
1 and 1/2 cup all purpose flour 
2  tsp paprika powder 
1 tsp onion powder 
2 tbsp garlic powder 
1 tsp mixed herbs 
2 -3 tsp sugar ( powdered ) 
salt 

METHOD: 

  1. Clean , wash , chop boneless chicken into very small pieces and marinate them in butter milk for 3-4 hours , preferably over night.
  2. Wash the chicken , pat dry and marinate them with the ingredients mentioned under marination section for 1-2 hours. 
  3. In one bowl , whisk eggs by adding milk , salt and hot sauce.
  4. In another large bowl add all purpose flour and other ingredients mentioned under ""Dry Flour Mix " , mix well and keep aside.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan , slow down once its fully hot. 
  6. Now take each chicken piece , roll in dry flour seasoned mix , then dip in egg mixture , then again in dry flour seasoned mix , then again dip in egg and lastly roll in dry flour seasoned mix and deep fry in hot oil on medium heat until crisp.
  7. Serve hot immediately with any dip or hot sauce .



NOTE : 
If you want more spicy add 1 tsp more paprika powder , for more flavors you can even add 1 tsp garlic , 1 tsp mixed herbs and 1 tsp sugar too.  



SERVES : 3-4 Persons.
PREPARATION TIME : :30 - 35 Minutes ( excluding marination time )
